Administration imposed restrictions in surrounding areas of Covid19 patient’s house and quarantined people who came in contact with patient. Follow restrictions, Administration says
Agartala, April 7, 2020: After the report of first positive Corona case came into fore, panic and concern rattled minds of State people. Amidst all round apprehension and palpable fear, administration swung into action immediately and took several people who came in contact with the Covid19 victim into quarantine facilities as a mandatory practice to stop transmission of the virus. Importantly, no further new cases were found today.
Notably, one woman -a resident of Gakulnagar in Udaipur under Gomati District was tested positive for coronavirus – and she became the first victim of the virus. Even as some other persons of the State were tested positive, none stay in Tripura. Obviously, as her report spread, panic gripped psyche of people.
Sensing growing panic among people, DM of Gomati TK Debnath held a press conference today in presence of SP Gomati Lucky Chouhan and detailed about steps taken in the aftermath of a local woman tested Covid19 position for safety of people.
DM TK Debnath said, surrounding area of the woman’s house was divided into two categories and restrictions on venturing out of one’s home were imposed.
While in the core area, people those are living within one kilometer periphery of her residence at Gokulnagar, were asked not to come out of their houses.
“No one will be allowed to come out of their homes in the periphery of 1km of the concerned woman’s house”, Debnath said.
He said, in case of any requirement the residents in the core area could contact the police or civil administration and necessary steps then would be taken.
Moreover, people living within 3-km periphery of the woman’s house were also barred from coming out of their houses except for emergency purposes.
TK Debnath giving details of the patient’s travel history told media that the driver of the vehicle in which concerned woman travelled to GB Hospital in Agartala had been taken to ‘main’ quarantine facility – and also, out of the three family members of the woman, one child (7 years) had been put into ‘main’ quarantine, so far.
“As many as 29 locals have been put into institutional quarantine”, Debnath said.
It was learnt that the patient went to Guwahati with seven other members of the family and visited Kamakhya temple there.

Meanwhile, son-in-law of the affected woman – a Tripura State Rifle (TSR) jawan – Dipak Karmakar – was also sent to quarantine along with seven other jawans who shared room with Dipak in the TSR camp at Ampi under Gomati district last night. Dipak accompanied the affected woman during her Assam tour.
Administration has urged people to follow the restrictions and co-operate with State machinery to stop spread of coronavirus.
