60 pilgrims from North East went to Vrindavan for immersion of ashes of deceased relatives – but stranded at Radhamadhavji Temple in Mathura due to lockdown

Agartala, April 26, 2020: At least 60 pilgrims from North East remain stranded at Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh due to national lockdown. Out of the total 60 pilgrims, 27 are from Tripura while 16 are from Karimganj district and 17 pilgrims are from Kachar district of Assam.
According to available information, a group of 60 pilgrims started their journey for Vrindaban on March 02 last for immersion of ashes of their deceased relatives. However, before they could not complete their rituals, lockdown was enforced. As lockdown was extended till May 03 next, these pilgrims stuck up at Radhamadhavji Temple in Mathura.
“We in helpless condition as we are unsure as to when we would be able to return to our places. Corona scare and stranded far away from their homes, we are confused and tensed”, said one of the pilgrims.
In an attempt to grab attention, these pilgrims held a press conference and appealed to the Central as well as UP State Government to arrange their return journey.
