Women of the State are now eyeing to do jobs in Tripura’s elite force – Tripura State Rifles (TSR).
For the first time in the history of Tripura women aspirants have filled applications for jobs in TSR—state’s own paramilitary force after the new government reserved a 10 percent quota for women in the police department.
Against the 1,488 vacant posts, altogether 35,642 applications are received and 4,752 of the total applicants are women, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said.
Addressing the media persons at Civil secretariat, Nath said, “For two IR battalions altogether 1,488 posts are approved by the state council of ministers. In these posts, 75 percent of the total people will be recruited from the domicile of the state and rest of 25 percent will be recruited from outside states. It has been seen that altogether 42,594 applications are received in connection with the posts but in scrutiny only 35,642 applications could pass”.
He also said that in order to maintain transparency, a sophisticated agency has been engaged to carry out the physical test and the written papers would be conducted by CBSE. In the evaluation process the mark weightage had been designed as 30 physical tests, 60 in written and 10 in interview, Nath told reporters.
According to Nath, among the total applicants, from Tripura altogether 16,067 people applied for the posts whereas 15,265 applicants applied from other states.
