Road rage and resultant deaths seem to have become an everyday occurrence at Charilam and Bishalgarh areas on Agartala- Udaipur road in Tripura. For the last few days there were several road accidents at Charilam and Bishalgarh. In most of the cases reckless driving, bike riding with breakneck speed were responsible for the mishaps that claimed lives also.
On Tuesday, a young man identified as Rubel Mia (16) died in a horrific accident in the Ghaniyamara area of Bishalgarh. Two more were injured. They were identified as Khurshid Alam (25) and Shimulia (18). According to reports, a car had hit the bike which was also on a high speed. The biker Rubel Mia and Sumon Mia who was on pillion fell on the ground. Rubel died on the spot. The locals informed the Bishalgarh Fire Service.
Upon receiving the news, Bishalgarh Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and brought them to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Doctors at Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital declared one brought dead and referred the injured men to GBP Hospital after initial treatment.
Moreover police said that the bike had no number plate and there is no news of the car that escaped from the scene after hitting the bike.
Only recently one woman was crushed to on spot death after she fell down from the bike driven by her husband on which, her son was also riding. The accident took place in front Sepahijala Zoo.
It is alleged that alignment of the road and also the huge gap, in places even of one foot in height, between black top road and the earthen side were also responsible for the accidents.
Besides, there is an obvious lack of traffic monitoring on the road.
