In the wake of alarming surge in Covid19 cases at Agartala city in West Tripura, District Administration has opted for massive testing in selected areas which were the worst affected. Today, DM of West Tripura Sailesh Kumar Yadav issued an order to this end aiming to ensure more testing in those areas.
The areas in Agartala where massive resting operations would be conducted are ward Nos. 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 20, 26, 40 and 46. In these wards highest number of Covid-19 cases were reported. These 10 Wards account for about 70 pc of the total number of cases detected in the AMC (Agartala Municipal Corporation) area.
As per the order, it has been decided to conduct Rapid Antigen Test in campaign mode in these 10 Wards over a period of next two weeks in consultation with the CMO (Chief Medical Officer) and DSO (District Surveillance Officer) of West Tripura District.
The CMO, West will arrange for some static testing centres at one place in each of these 10 wards. The health professionals will be pressed into action with adequate testing kits, medicine kits for the positive patients.
“Pulse Oximeter for understating oxygen level and adequate vehicles for transportation of positive cases would be also kept in all the testing centres as per requirement. Testing centers will be set up in existing Government buildings like Health Sub-Centre, AWC, School, Ward office, bus shelters assessing the suitable situation”, the order copy reads.
Besides, the order also added, three teams for each of these Wards consisting of an ASHA worker, a staff from AMC Ward, and an AWW/ AWH/BLO will be notified by SDM, Sadar to ensure that people participate in the drive. Active assistance of club members will be sought for mobilization of people for testing and also to ensure that people will be entertained if they wish to stay in home isolation.
With a target of testing at least one person from each family in these 10 wards, each team has been asked to test at least 50 persons per day. On being found positive and selected for home isolation, they would be provided with a medicine kit and leaflets that would make them understand as to how they have to follow the isolation period. For cases which need to be shifted to CCC or DCHC, transportation will be arranged by CMO west Tripura.
Proper measures for collecting daily basis reports and ensuring sanitization of the testing centers will also be put in place.
