Even as Covid19 is ravaging the State with around 300 deaths, people and political parties of Tripura appear to be grossly ignorant about maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.
At Kalyanpur under Khowai district in Tripura, people were seen jostling outside a branch of Tripura Gramin Bank thumping down social distancing norms. The same scene was observed at Weekly Haat in Kalyanpur on Sunday.
While people appear to be least bothered about following Covid19 guidelines, Political Parties – who could be a harbinger of spreading awareness – continue to be reckless as both the ruling and opposition parties are holding programmes violating social distancing and eschewing mask-wearing.
In two different places, BJP and CPIM supporters, once again, caught on the wrong foot as far as obeying Covid norms is concerned.
Ruling BJP held a joining programme at RS Para ADC village under Kalyanpur-Pramodnagar today. In presence of MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury and other saffron leaders, a total of 55 voters of 19 families joined BJP quitting CPIM and IPFT, sources said and added, in the programme, most of the activists were seen posing for a photograph without masks.
CPIM supporters were also found breaching Covid19 norms in a programme held today at Ganganagar area under Ambassa in Dhalai district today. Local sources said, around 600 supporters of CPIM’s frontal wings held a rally – ranting slogans and giving social distancing a toss – in support of 13-point demand. Supporters of Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) and Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) – indigenous wings of CPIM – rallied through different areas under Ganganagar.
With an eye on ADC Polls, all the Political parties have stepped up activities – but at the cost of blatant violation of Covid19 norms. Ironically, the administration also appears to be less interested in reining in ‘organized violation’ of covid19 norms at public places.
