The short-film titled “Sheetghoom, dream on the bed of lies” addressed the issues and social stigmas faced by the LGBTQ community and what happens to their lives when they are forced to get married against their will as per stereotypic concept of the society.
The LGBTQ community is still fighting to get their problems solved. But, such issues, in a broad sense, are not getting adequate attention.
“Sheetghoom, dream on the bed of lies”, a short-film made by Kalpadruma Production House, speaks about the issue with a strong & loud appeal so that it gets addressed properly by the society.
The short-film has secured it’s position in final top-30 films in the Lift-off Global Network Film Festival, UK based on global viewers’ voting and jury scores.
Siddhartha Sankar Deb, who directed the short-film, said out of more than 800 entries across the world, this film from Tripura got selected in final top 30 films of the global festival.
He said, the Sheetghoom, scripted by Vineet Nandwana and produced by Soumalya Sankar Choudhury, is expected to be released in January, next year through online platform.
This short-film also earned wide appreciation and got rating of 6.2 in Shorted, a popular short-film competition of the country, he said while referring to the achievements.
According to Siddhartha, “Release of two other important projects– Godhuli, a short-film on drug abuse, and Yellow Stain, an initiative to address mental health issue– are in the queue.”
“While ‘Godhuli’ will talk about several issues of teenagers due to which their lives take wrong turns, the other short-film ‘Yellow Stain’ is based on the crave of all artists for fame and how far this lust can take them on the ride,” he said adding that Yellow Stain was made as a part of “50 hours film making challenge competition” under INDIA FILM PROJECT last month– everything was done by the college going students all by themselves in just 50 hours.
This production house has also designed blueline for an abstract art film- El Amado which is based on Rabindranath Tagore’s unending love. They are expecting to release it on Rabindra Jayanti, next year.
