North Tripura District police have made a significant breakthrough in gunpoint abduction of Litan Nath and lynching of Fireman Biswajit Debbarma cases.

 

After weeks of agonizing wait, Kuhila Reang has been detained from Khedacherra area in connection with Litan Nath kidnapping case. Das was kidnapped by unidentified miscreants on November 28 last from his residence at Damchhara under North Tripura district.

 

Besides, one person identified as Debu Malakar  (25) has been arrested from Subhasnagar under Kanchanpur in North District in connection with the fireman murder case. Fireman Biswajit Debbarma was brutally killed by a mob at Panisagar under North Tripura district during a road blockade agitation as part of Anti-bru rehabilitation process.  

 

DIG Northern range L Darlong said, “In connection with the Panisagar violence where a firefighter Biswajit Debbarma has been brutally lynched, the police have arrested one person identified as Debu Malakar (25). He has been arrested from his residence at Subhasnagar, Kanchanpur”.

 

In another big development, he said, one Kuhila Reang from Pungriang village under Khedacherra police station has been detained in connection with the Litan Nath abduction case.

 

Replying to a question regarding Litan’s return, he said, “Some very specific clues are there with the police department and the police are probing all the aspects of the clues. Investigation is going in a good pace and we are hopeful of good results soon”.

 

Both the incidences – the abduction of Litan Das at gun-point from Damchhara and senseless murder of fireman Biswajit Debbarma during Anti-bru agitation at Panisagar – created a sense of tension and apprehension in the area.
