06: In an unprecedented show of indiscipline and chaos, a la Congress tradition, a section of BJP leaders let loose their supporters to scream and shout out dissidence against incumbent Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in front of party prabhari Vinod Kumar Sonkar. Such a sudden display of indiscipline in an otherwise disciplined party like BJP surprised all, and certainly the visiting party incharge.
About a thousand of BJP workers, believed to be supporters of the dissident group, gathered in the state guesthouse to meet Sonkar with a plea of change in the state leadership. And, soon they literally laid a siege at the state guesthouse to press for their demands and prevented Sonkar from venturing out of his room without hearing their grievances. In the meantime, slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jay” and “Biplab Hatao, BJP Bachao” started being shouted by the supporters.
Sonkar had a tough time to convince the unruly workers that he would soon come back to the state guesthouse to hear their pleas..
“Please listen to me, I am cancelling the lunch and I will once again come back here and will meet each and everyone who wants to meet me. If I need be I shall cancel my flight”, Sonkar said while being stopped by some women workers.
He later rushed to a pre-scheduled programme and state BJP Party office to address the press and then once again went back to the state guesthouse.
All ministers, both MPs and all MLAs including the disgruntled ones also met Sonkar and discussed about party matters and also their issues.
After a brief meeting with the dissident leaders and MLAs, he left for the Airport.
Later, MLA Ram Prasad Paul from the dissenting leaders said that their protests would continue to prevent CPM from coming back to power once again and they would leave no stones unturned in course of making this true.
