Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has said that the government will make all out efforts to boost land border trade with neighbouring countries.
Addressing the 4th foundation day of the Land Ports Authority of India in New Delhi yesterday, he said geographically land border trade is vital to India’s development.
Mr Rijiju said all developed countries, even the nations small in size and borders, have huge border trade volumes with neighbouring countries. He said intra-regional trade and prosperity are directly linked.
The Minister said, there is a need to explore new trade routes to ensure more productive contacts with the neighbours especially in the North East where all the States share their borders with neighbouring countries.
