IPFT leaders seem to be utterly confused as to which way to go in upcoming District Council Polls in Tripura. Even though, IPFT is an ally of ruling BJP in Tripura, it decided to forge an alliance with TIPRA without severing ties with BJP. TIPRA is an alliance formed to bring regional indigenous parties of Tripura. IPFT leaders today were absent in a joint mass rally called by TIPRA at Bishramganj in Tripura.
With every passing day, clouds of uncertainties seemed to be deepening centering the fate of the greater regional alliance bringing regional parties like IPFT, INPT under the same fold led by Pradyot Kishore Debbarman.
As the poll dates have been already announced and most of the parties are in their last minutes preparations, the TIPRA, IPFT and INPT alliance have been still to sort out their issues pertaining to seat sharing.
As scheduled, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman led TIPRA motha on Friday organized a rally cum public meeting at Bishramganj which was well attended. But, what had raised several questions was the absence of IPFT leaders on the stage.
Instead, INPT supremo BK Hrangkhwal attended the function, who skipped the first joint rally of the alliance at Khumulwng.
According to TIPRA General Secretary Animesh Debbarma, the newly floated party had all the intentions to field candidates in all the 28 constituencies and it had also finalized a possible list of candidates but it was waiting for the IPFT to join in for the seat sharing talks.
His statement indicated that the IPFT was yet to finalize the issue and still there were some differences between IPFT and TIPRA. In fact, it appeared that the difference came to the public with Friday’s rally.
Sources said, at one point of time, the party decided to call off the rally but at the last minute, party leaders managed to arrange the rally which recorded a good footfall.
Speaking on the occasion, TIPRA supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman lamented that he had been betrayed by people very close to him but he still had the same love for them.
“I have been insulted, I have been betrayed by my own Tiprasa. But, I don’t hate them. I will love them forever”, he said.
Debbarma also clarified that he was not communal but some forces were trying to paint him and his politics in communal colour. “TIPRA stands for all – Bengalis, Tripuris, Manipuris, Muslims and all.
Those who raise questions about us, they should ponder over their intentions”, he said.
Expressing his confidence, he said, “Bubagra will come in ADC. On April 08, those who are conspiring against me will salute me. I will go to Delhi and urge the Prime Minister to resolve the problems being faced by the Tiprasa people”.
