Along with the nation, International Women’s Day (IWD) was celebrated in Tripura also. Several programmes were held in Agartala on Monday. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb hailed the women power. In his social media handle, Deb wrote, “Women are always a source of inspiration for the family and the society. On this women’s day, let’s take a moment to salute and celebrate their contribution in shaping our society. Wishing every woman a very happy International Women’s Day”.
In Agartala, a seminar was held at Nazrul Kalakhestra by Social Welfare and Social Education department. Tripura Commission for Women also held a programme on the rights of women.
Like previous years, Amar Graphics also held ‘Vijayaini 2021’ at Sukanta Academy to felicitate women for significant contributions in different fields of society. In the programme Priyanka Dasgupta was felicitated for her contribution in sports. Besides, Siuli Debbarma for Culture, Sukla Chakraborty for entrepreneurship, Dr Sarmishtha Banerjee for Education, Chirashree Debnath for Literature, Soma Das for social work, Dipika Mandal, Women Police, Dr Debaruna Chakma for Health Services, Bipasha Hrankhal and Ishita Chanda for Glamour were felicitated.
Among others, Judge of Tripura High Court Justice Subhasish Talapatra and secretary of Ram Krishna Mission of Viveknagar, Shubhakarananda Maharaj were present in the programme.
As part celebration and observance of IWD, South Tripura Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized a programme at Monpathar under Santirbazar sub-division on Monday. In the programme, womenfolk associated with agri-activities were felicitated. A total of 132 women participated in the programme. Along with an exhibition of agricultural products, garments manufactured by womenfolk were also displayed. Winners of agri-produces and garments’ makers were awarded.
In North Tripura District, on the International Women’s Day (IWD), SBI branch donated two computers to Women’s Police Station of Dharmanagar today. On behalf of SBI, a 5-member delegation led by Chief Manager Saibal Kanti Roy and Ajanta Bhattacharjee handed over the computers to concerned OC Shipra Das and Additional SP Francis Darlong.
At the behest of Gramin Aajeevika Mission, IWD was celebrated in Udaipur. An awareness rally and meeting was held. In the programme, more than a hundred women of 16 SHGs of Gramin Aajeevika Mission took part in the programme.
Besides, programmes were held in other parts of the State in celebration of International Women’s Day..
