With the Covid 19 tally is showing an increasing trend once again, Tripura government has re-imposed strict actions for not following the Covid 19 protocols such as wearing masks or face covers and maintaining social distancing. Penalties shall be slapped for eschewing mask or not maintaining social distancing norms.
In view of recent guidelines issued by the Union Government, the State Government has imposed major restrictions like “Compulsory wearing mask including homemade washable cloth mask/face cover by any cloth in public/workplace or while travelling or driving” reads an order issued by Chief Secretary on Tuesday.
The order also put restrictions on unscientific gathering in order to avert further spike in the Covid 19 infection.
The order further read, Social distancing is be ensured in public and private transport. The order also “Restricting shops to operate only after ensuring appropriate social distancing measures and avoiding overcrowding through volunteers to regulate shoppers. The shops having frontage less than one meter shall allow only one person at a time, having frontage 1 (one) or more but less than 2 (two) meters, two persons shall be allowed at a time and so on. Rest may stand behind with a distance of one meter in the queue. The shopkeeper and shoppers shall compulsorily wear the mask or face covers. Compulsory daily sanitization of area”, the order further added.
Provisions for penalties had been also revived if someone found not following the Covid safety protocols. A fine of Rs 200- in the first violation and a fine of Rs 400 for subsequent violation in regard to not wearing a mask or face cover has been imposed.
In case of social distancing, a fine of Rs 1000 for not ensuring social distancing in public and private transport, or not ensuring social distancing among the consumers in front of the shops by shopkeepers and for violating home quarantine norms have been imposed.
“Moreover, any person, institution, organization violating the regulations shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of IPC”, the order concluded.
