In a gruesome incident, Tripura Police recovered a charred body tied inside a burnt auto at secluded place near NH 08 at Joyrampara under Dhalai district on Friday. The deceased person was identified as Basu Malakar, an icecream seller – and he hailed from Ambassa TRTC Para under the same district.  He was 52 years old.

 

Local sources said, Basu Malakar went to Chailengta weekly market in his auto (TR-04A-2180) to sell ice creams there on Monday last. Malakar used to ferry ice creams in his auto and as usual attended the weekly market at Chailengta under Manu PS in Dhalai district.  

 

In his last call on Monday evening, Malakar told his family members that he was returning home from the market. However, he never returned and all attempts to contact him again turned futile. Later, family members lodged a missing diary with Ambassa Police.

 

Today morning, local people of Joyrampara found a burnt auto in a secluded area adjacent to the NH 08 and informed Police. Accordingly, Police from Manu PS rushed to the spot and found a burnt body tied in the fire-damaged auto.

 

Meanwhile, Ashish Malakar, son of the deceased person, after being informed, reached the spot and identified the charred body of Basu Malakar and auto. Ashish Malakar claimed that his father was murdered.

 

Local sources said, the road along Joyrampara is a notorious stretch as miscreants often attack vehicles and snatch money and other valuables from drivers and passengers passing through the area in vehicles.  

“A group of miscreants is engaged in looting and creating panic among the drivers and passengers. These miscreants might attacked Basu Malakar and burnt him after tying him in the auto and set the auto ablaze”, locals alleged.

Police have already started an investigation and informed sources believe that a proper would be able bust the miscreants’ group and ensure safety of drivers and passengers.
