Auto drivers block road, Police assure action within 3 days
Gruesome killing of an auto-driver cum ice-cream seller, Basu Malakar sparked serious resentment among the auto drivers in Ambassa under Dhalai in Tripura. Venting anger at the brutal ‘murder’ and demanding immediate actions against the miscreants, auto drivers blocked NH 08 at Ambassa on Saturday.

Notably, charred body of Basu Malakar – an auto driver as well as ice cream vendor of TRTC Para in Ambassa – was recovered from his burnt auto on Friday from a secluded place at Joyrampara under Manu PS. Basu Malakar was found tied with the auto. He went missing from Monday.
Local people are suspecting that miscreants looted Basu Malakar and later set him ablaze along with the auto. As the report spread, irked auto drivers along with their autos blocked parts of NH08 at Ambassa. They demanded immediate actions against the miscreants involved in the killing.
The blockade threw traffic out of gear and vehicular movement came to a grinding halt. Later, Police force led by the SDPO of Ambassa reached the spots and held a prolonged discussion, Police assured to nab the culprits within three days. After getting the assurance, agitators withdrew the blockade, however, auto drivers threatened to intensify agitation if Police fail to arrest the culprits within the stipulated time.
Village goes ‘powerless’ for 4 days
Common people are suffering due to disruption in power supply for four consecutive days at Dhanbilash Gram Panchayat in Kailashahar. Locals informed the concerned a private company ‘Sai Computer’ responsible to manage Power issue. However, all went in vain. The Sai Computer personnel is so lethargic that even a request from a Panchayat member of the village fell into a deaf ear.
Dhanbilash Gram Panchayat is controlled by BJP. Disgusted at intermittent power cuts and voltage fluctuation etc are regular features. Adding further woes, the village has gone ‘powerless’ for the last four days, alleged Panchayat member cum BJP local leader Binay Sinha.
After villagers failed to get a response from the Power department, they complained to Binay Sinha. Accordingly, he informed the Sai Computer and urged to take immediate step to restore power in the village. However, Sinha alleged that the company did not just ignore his appeal, they had also humiliated him.
Locals are alleging that power supply services have hit a low after the private organization, Sai Computer was entrusted tasks of Power department in Kailashahar around nine months ago.
