Rangiya Division BG I, i.e. the section from New Bongaigaon to Agthori is one of the busiest sections of N.F. Railway dealing with almost 24774 nos of passengers daily and running about 23 goods and 42 nos of passenger trains. All important trains connecting northeast to the rest of India run through this section and the Division plays the pivotal role of catering to the needs of passengers travelling through the section. New Bongaigaon (B class station), Barpeta Road(A class station), Pathsala (D class station), Nalbari (D class station) and Rangiya (A class station) all of which are prominent stations of the section which deal 14887 nos of passenger daily. For convenience of the passengers the Division has taken up a number of steps in the recent past.

Amongst other initiatives, some of the notable initiative are Electronic real time train information board and one additional UTS window at Rangiya station. A “Coach Guidance System” istalled and one Upper Class waiting room constructed at Nalbari. One 2nd class waiting hall was set and renovated circulating area at the Pathsala will provide better travelling experiences.

In Barpeta road Station, an Upper class air-conditioned waiting room, one 2nd class waiting room and one GPS based analogue clock has been installed. Moreover, the circulating area of the Barpeta road station was improved to ensure smooth passage of traffic. Landscaping & Façade of the Station were renovated to promote local heritage & culture. Paintings depicting the local culture have been provided on circulating area & station building of the Barpeta Road station.
