Special vaccination drive for people belonging to 18- 45 years will be held at Ambassa Municipal Council and Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat areas in Tripura on June 14 (Monday). Addressing a press meet, in-charge of Covid section of District Health department, Dr Subhash Barua said this. Beneficiaries would get Covishield jab.
Dr Barua also said that a total of 4505 persons would be vaccinated in Ambassa Municipal Council area and 6605 persons would be inoculated at Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat area. Four vaccine centres would be set up for each of the two places.
In this special drive, media persons, rickshaw pullers, auto drivers, bus drivers, LPG dealers, Ration shop dealers, shop owners and hawkers would get priority.
Notably, along with the entire State, vaccination drive started in Dhalai district from March 1 last. It was targeted that 65 thousand 955 persons belonging to 45-60 years age group were to be inoculated and Till June 11 last, 48 thousand 321 persons of this group were vaccinated while 18192 persons received second dose. Out of the 34 thousand 902 persons of age above 60 years, 32 thousand 903 persons received first jab while 15 thousand 351 persons got the second dose of the vaccine.
Dr Barua asserted that department would ensure all possible ways to fulfil the target in Dhalai district. “Along with the health workers, several NGOs are working to reach the target”, he commented.
He also said that vaccination drives will soon be conducted in Gandachhera and areas under Longtharai sub-division. He lamented that many of the people living in interior hamlets are reluctant to get vaccinated. The administration sought co-operation from Bru Young Association to convince the villagers and ensure vaccination.
