A crucial meeting on conducting Madhyamik and Higher Secondary exams under Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) will be held on Monday. The high level meeting is expected to take a final call on TBSE conducted Madhyamik and Higher Secondary exams at the time rampaging Covid pandemic.

Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath will preside over the meeting. Besides, former education minister, eminent academician, psychiatrist, executive member in charge of Education in TTAADC will participate in the meeting.

Whether the Board exams would be conducted or cancelled will be the prime issue that will be discussed in details. The State Government will seek the opinion of experts on this ground.

Besides, TBSE already started obtaining guardians opinion relating to conducting or cancellation of the exams since June 8 last. Guardians of students may express their opinions on the issue through TBSE website. This facility shall remain open till 6pm on June 15 next.

As schools remain closed due to Covid pandemic for a long time, many students especially student of rural areas are in tough situation. This section is vying to cancel the exams. Of course, views of students willing to appear in exams also need to be heard.

In view of the emerging situation, several stakeholders opined that Tripura Government may follow the steps of Assam where board exams would be held but students would be given the choice of papers and they would not have to appear for all the subjects.

In Tripura, except a small group of NSUI supporters, most of the other students’ wings are not coming out strongly favouring any particular stance. A group of NSUI, that too in Agartala only, are demanding cancellation of the exams.

With finger crossed, guardians and students are eagerly waiting to know the outcome of tomorrow’s meeting.
