Cattle smuggling ‘trade’ led to a clash between members of two families in which eight persons were injured and among them condition of two persons were stated to be critical. The incident took place at a bordering village Putia Gram Panchayat under Kalamchoura PS in Tripura on Sunday.
As per details, one cattle trader, Farid Mian of Putia area along with his accomplices entered the residential area of one Abul Qasem near the Indo-Bangla border to smuggle cattle to Bangladesh.
However, the owner of house, Qasem raised an objection. He tried to prevent Farid and his team from smuggling cattle using his house.
Qasem’s protest irked Farid and his accomplices. They started beating Qasem and his relatives with sticks and rods.
Before locals could stop the clash, eight persons of both sides were injured and two of them were sent to GB Hospital. Both sides lodged complaints with the Police.
However, Qasem was late in filing a complaint against Farid Mian and his group as they went to the PS after receiving treatment. Meanwhile, after Qasem reached Police Station, Police arrested Qasem and three others on the basis of a complaint lodged by Farid Mian. Police action against Farid Mian also started after Qasem lodged a complaint.
