Political clash between BJP and CPM at Rajnagar under PR Bari Police Station in South Tripura on Sunday last sparked war of words between the two parties.
While ruling BJP MLA is blaming sitting Opposition MLA of CPM for the violence, CPM leaders in different parts of the State are training guns at ruling BJP for Rajnagar violence as well as twin attacks on CPM supporters in Agartala on Monday.
Apart from holding protest rallies, Scheduled Caste Coordination Samiti – a CPM wing – met the DGP at the Police Headquarters in Agartala on Tuesday to lodge a protest against the ‘unabated’ attacks on CPM supporters.
Notably, BJP and CPM supporters got involved in a violent clash in which leaders and supporters of both the parties, including CPM MLA Sudhan Das and BJP Mandal president were injured. In Agartala, several CPM supporters were injured and vehicles were vandalized in attacks at two places in Agartala on Monday.
Referring to Rajnagar violence, BJP MLA Arun Chandra Bhowmik blamed CPM MLA Sudhan Das for the clash at Rajnagar as well as he demanded immediate transfer of the Officer-in-Charge of the PR Bari PS for his alleged inaction.
Bhowmik said, CPM is on the verge of extinction in State political arena. However, the Leftists are trying to make a last ditch by creating troubles. He told the CPM leaders and supporters to refrain from creating chaos and derailing the developmental activities of the BJP-IPFT Government.
Arun Chandra Bhowmik also demanded transfer of PR Bari OC, Arjun Chakma. The MLA said he had discussed the issue with the Chief Minister and demanded immediate transfer of the OC as the violence could have been averted had the OC tackled the situation in a proper manner.
Meanwhile, CPM supporters are hitting streets raising slogans against the violence unleashed allegedly by the BJP supporters in districts and sub-divisional towns. In Agartala, CPM supporters held a protest rally in Agartala today denouncing violence at Rajnagar on Sunday and Banamalipur in Agartala on Monday.
Condemning the violence at Rajnagar, State Committee leaders of the Tripura Schedule Caste Co-ordination Samiti leaders met the DGP over a deputation in Agartala on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, leader of the Samiti, Dilip Das said, hundreds of CPM leaders and supporters came under attacks after the 2018 Assembly Polls.
“We are going to meet the DGP over a deputation and will want to know whether such violence would stop in the State. The attacks are continuing even after the Governor’s assurance”, Das said.
