The second wave of Covid19 affected Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma. Among them, the Chief Minister tested positive for double mutant Corona strain. Both of them could opt for being airlifted to other States for treatment – however, they did not. Instead, they relied and trusted on doctors of our States and the doctors responded quite efficiently and professionally. Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik said this in her inaugural speech at IMA House in Agartala as part of celebration of National Doctors’ Day on Thursday and added, both Deb and Dev Varma became fit, thanks to the proficiency of doctors of the State.

Along with the entire nation, National Doctors’ Day was celebrated in Tripura and the main programme was organized at the Agartala IMA House. Notably, the National Doctors’ Day is celebrated on July 1 every year to mark the birth and death anniversary of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also hailed the medical fraternity and in a social media post, Deb said, let the slogan of the National Doctors’ Day be – “Ensure security of physicians to keep people healthy”. He saluted the role of the doctors to save the human civilization during the Covid pandemic situation. On this Day, Deb also felicitated the doctors.

In this connection Deb also highlighted that Tripura Government recruited 156 physicians through TPSC within a record 39 days following transparent recruitment policy.

As part of the National Doctors’ Day celebration, Pratima Bhoumik and medical fraternity paid rich tributes to doctors, nurses and paramedical staffs for their relentless contributions in saving the human civilization against the onslaught of deadly Corona virus.  In the programme, dignitaries also paid tributes to legendry doctor of the State, late Dr Rathin Dutta along with other eminent doctors and recalled their contributions towards the society. Bhoumik also highlighted late Dr Rathin Datta’s crucial role during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
