Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb placed a proposal for a Cultural Hub and demanded commencement of construction works of proposed Buddha Cultural University before the Union Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal on Monday.

The MoS for Culture Meghwal said that he would discuss Tripura’s proposal for a Cultural Hub with the Ministry of Finance and NITI Aayog for approval. He also said that he would also talk with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and other concerned about the pending developmental projects proposed by the State and take steps for implementation.

Meghwal told the media this after his courtesy meeting with Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in Agartala on Monday, the second day of his visit to the state.

According to a government press release, Deb raised the demands before the central minister during the courtesy meeting at the Civil Secretariat. The Chief Minister greeted the Union MoS with traditional Risa and handed a bamboo-cane made memento. Deb also presented a book on Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya to Meghwal.

Apart from demanding commencement of works for the proposed Buddha Cultural University in the state, the Chief Minister held threadbare discussions on cultural and tourism development in Tripura.

Later, Deb on his official Facebook handle said the Central Minister had extended full assurance from the Centre in such matters.

Earlier on Sunday, the central minister visited Mata Tripura Sundari temple at Udaipur as well as met the Padma Shri Satyaram Reang at his residence. He also had a courtesy meet with the outgoing Governor Ramesh Bais on Monday.
