In his first visit to Delhi after a major reshuffle in PM Modi’s cabinet, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb met five central ministers in Delhi on Thursday to discuss various important issues including regularization of SSA teachers, setting up of the proposed AIIMS hospital in Tripura and release of funds under different on-going projects.

 

Discussions with Union Edu Min

 

The Chief Minister’s discussions with the Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan included regularization of SSA teachers and proposal for setting up of Kendriya Vidyalayas at Udaipur and Dharmanagar.

 

The Union Education Minister in his tweet said that he had conversations on measures to improve quality of education in schools and creating more opportunities for gainful employment for the youth of Tripura and the north-east through skilling initiatives.

 

Discussions with Union Health Min

 

During his discussion with the new Union Minister for Health Mansukh Mandaviya, the Chief Minister pressed for the proposed AIIMS in Tripura and informed the Minister about steps taken to combat Covid in the State.

 

According to sources, Deb also spoke on allocation Covid vaccine doses, setting up of the proposed 100-bedded Communicable Disease Centre (CDC) at the AGMC and GBP Hospital, State Cancer Institute Project at Atal Bihari VajpayeeRegional Cancer Hospital and additional funding under Emergency Covid Response Plan (ECRP).

 

A government press release said, “So far, the State has received Rs. 24 Cr in FY 20-21 out of which 50% fund has been utilized and around 40% of the received fund is in the process of payment to concerned parties.”

 

Deb also requested the Ministry to consider providing an additional funding support to the tune of Rs. 9.20 crore under NHM for the FY: 2021-22 as a special case in order to continue the implementation of National Ambulance Service scheme in a seamless manner.

 

Discussions with Fin Min

 

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has sought release of the pending GST Compensation for Tripura during his meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

 

According to a government press release, Deb highlighted that an amount of Rs. 153.90 crore was yet to be released as GST Compensation for the period April, 2020 to March, 2021 for the State of Tripura. He requested the Union Finance Minister to release the balance amount of GST Compensation for the period April, 2020 to March, 2021.

 

The Chief Minister discussed a series of issues pertaining to the socio-economic development of Tripura during his meeting with Sitharaman. Deb spoke on the issue of Open Market Borrowing (OMB).

 

Discussions with other Ministers

 

Deb’s meeting with the Union Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh focused on on-going PMAY Houses and PMGSY Roads projects in Tripura. Deb in a tweet said the Union Minister has assured total support to Tripura.

 

The Chief Minister also met Sarbananda Sonowal, who recently took over charge as the Union Minister for Ayush and Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

 

Deb sought Sonowal’s support for Inland Waterways Connectivity and also discussed the need for a permanent jetty at Srimantapur under Sepahijala district. He assured all the required support for the same, Deb Tweeted.
