Amidst applauding crowd, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik arrived in Tripura on Monday.
In a unique but traditional manner, she expressed her gratitude and respect to her native State, Tripura and its people. She bowed down and touched the soil of her homeland with her forehead.
Pratima Bhowmik is the first resident of Tripura to become a central minister under Modi-led Government.
She was given a warm reception by the BJP activists specially the Mahila Morcha at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala on Monday. She was then brought to the city accompanied by a huge bike rally.
Bhowmik met Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP state president Dr. Manik Saha, visited Meher Kalibari and also took part in ‘Jan Ashirvad Yatra’ in several places including Unakoti and North Tripura to take blessings of the people. She arrived in the state around 42 days after taking charge as the union minister.
Meantime, she paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary.
Addressing a press conference at BJP state office, Bhowmik thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving Tripura a central minister.
“We are grateful to the Prime Minister. He has not only given a central minister to Tripura but also honoured the people of Tripura,” she said.
While she was taking part in a road show on the way to the state party office from the airport, there was a huge gathering on both sides of the road. She is also scheduled to visit some other districts and took part in various events including the ‘Jan Ashirvad Yatra’.
Later, she took part in ‘Jan Ashirvad Yatra’ at Dharmanagar under North District and at two places – Kailashahar and Kumarghat – under Unokoti district today.
All the newly appointed Union Ministers including Pratima Bhowmik have embarked on the Yatra to seek people’s blessings and to explain the activities of Modi Government.
IANS reported, “As per the plan, all the 39 newly-inducted ministers in the Union council of ministers will seek people’s blessings in the three days of Jan Ashirvad Yatra in 19 states. Together, all the 39 ministers will cover 19,567 km, 212 Lok Sabha constituencies and 265 districts of the country.
