Scene 1: Bengal based Trinamool Congress leaders claimed that some of the BJP leaders and MLA were communicating with TMC.
Scene 2: BJP Organizational leaders who are in-charge of Tripura are arriving in Agartala on Monday. Also, the Union Social Justice Minister Pratima Bhowmik is scheduled to visit State.
Scene 3: Huge speculation on State Cabinet extension on August 31.
In the backdrop of such a situation, the meeting held by disgruntled BJP MLAs led by Sudip Roy Barman in Agartala on Sunday assumes significance as for the first time, Roy Barman clearly stated his stance and intentions at present. He wants to strengthen BJP, Roy Barman claimed.
Speaking to the media, Firstly, he said his intention is to listen to the grievances of Party workers as the BJP top brass does not pay heed to its dissented leaders and supporters. The purpose of this, according to him, is to provide the Party leaders sets of suggestions to address the grievances, to bridge the gap between the Party and the government as well as to strengthen the party.
With BJP Northeast Zonal Secretary (Orgn), Ajay Jamwal, Tripura in-charge Vinod Sonkar and Orgn general Secretary of Tripura and Assam, Phanindra Nath Sharma arriving in State on August 30 for a long State visit, Roy Barman and other leaders seem to be keen to seize the opportunity.
Roy Barman and other disgruntled leaders met these leaders ‘in vain’ on earlier occasions also, however, this time, it is not just leaders, but the voice of a section of BJP supporters that Roy Barman want to highlight before the visiting leaders, Political observers opined and added, in this case, Sudip Roy Barman is trying to play the role of a ‘Reformists’ to ‘correct’ and strengthen the Saffron Party.
His ‘Reform Mission’ also revealed he is very much with BJP. The ‘purpose’ of the Sunday meeting silently voiced his allegiance to BJP and rubbished the speculation relating to his joining hands with the Trinamool Congress, at present.
He, in an unambiguous manner, said, neither he nor any of the BJP MLAs and supporters present in the meeting communicated with the Trinamool Congress leaders. He, however, expressed his unawareness about as to what anyone else was doing.
After this statement, Bengal based TMC leaders and some of the media that speculated over Sudip Roy Barman’s joining the TMC are now in a spot of bother. The TMC leaders, in their attempt to break the ruling party, have got a rude shock, at present and people of the State will think twice before running after wild speculations.
It remains to be seen as to how much political success Roy Barman can accrue through his ‘Reform Mission’ and as to how political scenario will change if he fails in this ‘Mission’.
