Out of a hotel or a residence, Trinamool Congress leaders held a meeting with local party supporters at Dasharath Dev Smriti Bhavan on Friday. During the meeting TMC leader Sushmita Dev made valiant attempt to drive home the ‘Tripura-ness’ concept.

She reiterated people of Tripura will decide and take decision on organizational and governance related issues. Sushmita Dev also went a step further and said, “Our Poll manifesto will be prepared by the local people”.

During Bengal Assembly Polls, TMC leaders tagged the BJP leaders of other States as ‘outsider’. The same tag is haunting the TMC in Tripura. In absence of any charismatic and popular leader in Tripura, opposition parties of TMC are pushing through the ‘outsider’ tag on visiting TMC leaders.

Sensing this Sushmita Dev, after she arrived in Agartala on Thursday, immediately said that she and other TMC leaders would go to districts, would held meetings and collect feedback from people. She also said, it is the local people who would select their leaders.

While attending today’s party meeting, Sushmita Dev reiterated and said, if TMC forms government in Tripura, the government would not run based on directives from Nagpur or Bengal.

Continuing her effort to install confidence among the local supporters, Sushmita Dev said, TMC office will be set up State Party Office soon. Later, Party offices will be opened in districts.

“I came to Tripura as per the direction of Abhishek Banerjee to strengthen organization in every block and every district of the state. The people of Tripura, who have been betrayed by the BJP, will now get justice as Trinamool Congress is going to form the government in the next assembly elections,” she said.

“However, finding out an well acceptable and charishmatic leader in Tripura will be a big challenge for the TMC”, Political observers opined.

Besides, Sushmita Dev criticized the BJP-led Government for its alleged failures in fulfilling the poll promises.

West Bengal TMC leader and Minister Bratya Basu, who also attended the party meet, alleged that there was an intentional power cut in the Dasharath Dev Bhavan when the TMC programme was scheduled.

Among others, TMC MP Pratima Mandal, party leader Sujata Mandal and youth leader Jaya Dutta were present.
