Trinamool Congress, ultimately knocked the door of the High Court of Tripura as the police administration remained mum in giving permission for a Padayatra scheduled to be held in Agartala on September 22.

Single Bench of Justice Arindam Lodh heard the matter and listed it for hearing again on Tuesday, advocate Sankar Lodh who moved the petition on behalf of TMC told the media.

According to the advocate, earlier the TMC had sought permission for September 15 and September 16. But, the police didn’t give permission citing various reasons.

He said the permission was now sought on September 14 last for organizing a Padayatra in the city on September 22. But there was no response from the Tripura Police so far.

“Tripura Police was supposed to inform whether the permission was granted or not within 48 hours. But there was no response so far following which we moved the High Court of Tripura. We informed the High Court that police was not granting the permission on various grounds,” the lawyer told the media.

“After hearing our submission, the High Court said that the matter would come up for hearing again on Tuesday on motion stage. In the meantime, the High Court asked the government to submit the report,” he added
