Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma urged the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to assist Government in reviving North East into a Progressive, Prosperous and Viable Business Ecosystem through recommendations towards drafting a forward-looking policy for utilizing the untapped potential of the region.
He said, business Profit is encouraged now to generate further employment and sustain and expand the business.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the session for Tripura at the East India Summit organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Agartala on Tuesday.
Tripura is poised to be transformed into a logistics hub of the North East and the State Government is optimistic about attracting investments for export business activities, he said.
Dev Varma said, borders are now perceived as business opportunities and NER should be the dynamo of growth for India.
The Deputy Chief Minister opined that the Maitri Setu on River Feni connecting Bangladesh with Tripura, would be instrumental towards transforming Tripura into a Logistics Hub of the North East.
He mentioned Tripura to have 8 custom stations, exporting approximately 51 commodities to Bangladesh.
“The State Government has established one Multisector SEZ in Jalefa, Sabroom, allocating Rs 60.57 cr on 16.35 ha of land “, Jishnu Dev Varma said.
With Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) as the implementing agency for the initiative, Government is optimistic regarding attracting investments for export-oriented units in the proposed SEZ.
