The central government is working to implement the plan of setting up AIIMS in every state to bring advancement in health services across the country. Plans are to set up medical colleges in each district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said after virtually inaugurating 35 Oxygen (O2) Plants in every state and union territories including Tripura from Hrishikesh, Uttarakhand.
The oxygen (O2) plants were built with the funds of PM Cares. The virtual inauguration programme was directly telecasted from 4no. Lecture Hall of AGMC in Agartala.
In the same programme, PSA oxygen (O2) plant of 1,000 LPM capacity was also inaugurated inside Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP campus.
Apart from that, second oxygen (O2) plant of 900 LPM capacity was inaugurated by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb inside GBP hospital campus. Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik was also present in the programme.
After the inauguration, the Chief Minister and other guests enquired about the services provided by CTVS and Interventional Radiology section of GB hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi after virtually inaugurating oxygen plants said, the central government is working on priority basis for the development of health services and infrastructure. Success has been achieved in giving services including increasing oxygen availability giving importance to health safety of the people during Covid situation.

Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik in the programme said, the health services and infrastructure have developed a great deal in the fight against Corona. It was possible to tackle the Covid situation due to joint efforts of health workers and others from different professions. Many plans are being implemented to curb other diseases besides providing Covid services. Work is going on priority basis to cater treatment services like Dialysis etc. She lauded Prime Minister for handling the Covid situation tactfully.
Others present in the programme were Principal Secretary of Health J.K Sinha, Director of Health Dr. Shubhasish Debbarma, Director of Medical Education Dr. Chinmoy Biswas and other health workers.
