Covid pandemic has dealt serious blows to the CPM Party organization. Covid19 snatched away Bijan Dhar and Gautam Das from us at a crucial juncture. However, we can overcome the loss with the collective efforts of all the Party supporters who worked along the late Dhar and Das. Politburo member Prakash Karat said this while speaking at a condolence meet in Agartala on Monday.
The state unit of CPM held the condolence meeting in Agartala in memory of veteran party leader and Left Front Convener of CPM in Tripura, Bijan Dhar who passed away a week ago.
Dhar died on October 11 last in Kolkata while CPM State Secretary Gautam Das died of post COVID-19 complications in Kolkata on September 16 last. Both were 70 years old.
Dhar died within less than a month after the death of Gautam Das.
The death of the two senior leaders is an irreparable loss for CPM and leftist movement in Tripura as well as in the whole country, Opposition leader and CPM politburo member Manik Sarkar said while addressing the condolence meet in memory of Bijan Dhar
Sarkar said, in the present situation of Tripura, the death of communist leaders like Dhar and Das is a challenge for the party; they always worked for the party with devotion by maintaining the communist ideology.
“Their absence will be felt all around and emergence of leaders like them will take a long time,” Sarkar said.
Pitching for a collective effort to overcome the crisis, Sarkar urged the party leaders and workers of all levels to reach out to people at grass root level with the burning issues and educate them about the communist ideology. He asked the party men to take the responsibility for facing the challenge emerged due to the deaths of the two leaders.
Newly appointed CPM State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury and other leaders of the State were also present along with leaders from West Bengal and Assam Units.
