The Power department has suspended four officials on Thursday of the Banduar 132 KV sub-station following a fire incident in the sub-station on October 13 last. The fire broke out on the morning of Ashtami and several areas under Gomati District witnessed massive power outages.
In a press release issued by the Corporate Office at Agartala of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) on Wednesday the organization pointed out that in the wake of the fire incidence, a 3-member enquiry committee was constituted comprising Debashish Sarkar, Director (Technical), Swapan Debbarma )AGM (EC-Khowai) and Anil Debbarma DGM (System Operation).
“Enquiry committee inter alia observed that the DC supply failure was the main reason behind the fatal incident. Moreover, the same DC failure incidents had occurred on 29.09.2021 and 05.10.2021 but, the sub-station team did not take any corrective action to prevent such incidence. Hence, it appears that the fire incident on October 13, 2021 at Babduar happened due to negligence of the sub-station team”, the press release read.
Notably, at around 4.15 am on October 13 last, a fire broke out at the Banduar 132 KV power sub-station in which a 5MVA 33/11 KV Power Transformer was gutted along with substantial damage to 33 KV outdoor switchyard, outdoor Current Transformer, etc.
