Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura Jishnu Dev Varma termed the Cooperative movement as a crucial factor in bringing prosperity. He also said Cooperatives play an important role in expanding existing business activities. All these taken together will boost earnings and make Tripura an Atma Nirbhar State.
Detailing about roles of Cooperatives, the Deputy Chief Minister said both the Central and the State governments are committed to strengthen the cooperative movement. The movement acts like a catalyst in increasing earnings of rural people of Tripura and attaining self reliance.
Dev Varma was speaking at a seminar in Charilam under Sepahijala district on Wednesday. The seminar was held as part of the 68th National Cooperative Week celebration.
Addressing the seminar, as chief guest the Cooperative Minister, Ramprasad Paul said, “The cooperative samitis across the State are working to unite and aware people from all parts of the society to join in cooperative movement. The cooperative has an important role in developing socio-economic condition of rural people.”
MLA Subash Chandra Das, MLA Birendra Kishore Debbarma, Deputy Controller of Cooperative department Nikhil Ranjan Chakraborty and other dignitaries were present.
Speakers highlighted the successful activities of different Cooperatives and shared valuable advice for further improvement.
During the programme, successful cooperative samitis of Sepahijala district were awarded. Also, prizes were given to the winners of the essay competition held in seminar.
