Students of Bagber SB School blocked the Boxanagar-Sonamura NH in Tripura on Thursday protesting against the transfer of teachers including a science teacher.

The agitating students said, there are 142 students in the school and there were nine teachers – however, recently a total of six teachers including a science teacher were transferred reducing the teachers’ strength to three only.

Guardians of the students vented anger at the transfer policy of the concerned department. They said the Government and the Education Minister are talking about imparting quality education – however, for this, schools need an adequate number of teachers. Instead of incrementing the number of teachers, the department is doing exactly the opposite.

The Education Department is facing the wrath of the students and local guardians over the ‘teachers transfer’ issues in different parts of the State. Recently, students of Rahimpur Higher Secondary School blocked the road and locked the school in protest against shifting a science teacher on deputation to another school.

Similar agitation against the transfer of a lone Economics teacher was held at Jampui and locals threatened to go for an indefinite road blockade in protest.
