Inspired by energy-filled speech of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, investors who attended the ‘Destination Tripura –Investment 2021’ got engaged in a vibrant interaction with Deb and explored the potential sectors for investment. Over an hour-long interaction covered Rubber, Tea, Tourism, IT, Bamboo, Pineapple, Agar, Agarbatti and others sectors.
During the interaction, the ‘Marriage destination’ plan of the State Government as part of the tourism was also discussed and received a good response. Representatives of a couple of industries showed keen interest in the Marriage Destination plan of the State Government. The idea of setting up Home resorts etc was also featured during the interaction.
With the hospitality sector witnessing a significant growth, a fact that most of the investors mentioned while interacting with the Chief Minister, the investors relating to the tourism and associated sectors are looking forward to the 2nd Day of the Summit with more expectations. Deb also pointed out that Marriage Parties could be conducted in Narkelkunj in Dumboor – another serene tourist spot of the State.
The second initiative of the State Government that drew investors’ attention is relating to women empowerment.
An Indore based entrepreneur, Sima Mishra had a vibrant interaction on the possibilities and potentialities that exists in Tripura, particularly in the case of women empowerment. Sima Mishra mooted the idea to form clusters in handloom, tea and other sectors to organize the unorganized sector workers for professional value addition.
Highlighting the present prevailing situation, Deb said, the number of SHGs has increased from 4000 to 26000 during the last three years. The Government is eyeing to create Rs 10,000 crore economies based on SHGs by 2025. “There is a huge scope to work with women empowerment here”, Deb told Mishra.
The initiative of the State Government to encourage small tea growers also got a huge support from the industry leaders. Interacting with the representative of Goodricke Group, the Chief Minister said for quality improvement and increasing the production, the State Government is working with small tea growers. He also mooted the idea to form a team comprising the government officials, representative of corporate houses and small tea growers to understand the industry requirements and chalk out plans to overcome the challenges.
Stone crushing set up and manufacturing of bamboo grass brooms in Tripura were two other issues discussed today. Besides issues relating to call centre, Animation, Skill Development University, Agar Tree inoculation and Rubber honey, pineapple pulps were also discussed.
