In an attempt to give a boost to the earnings of floriculturists, a workshop at Bishalgarh was held to make different shades of Abir from extracts of flowers. The workshop started on January 21 last and came to an end on Friday.

 

The workshop for making organic Abir was organized jointly by Tripura Science and Technology Council, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department and Tripura Farmers’ Welfare Society.

 

In the workshop, 30 women floriculturists of Laxmibil, Barjala and Bishramganj Gram Panchayat received training on preparing Abir of different hues from flowers.

 

The workshop aimed at augmenting the earnings of women folk associated with floriculture. Apart from selling the flowers, these women will be able to earn from preparing and selling organic Abir, said officials.

 

“There is an increasing demand for organic Abir especially diring the Holi celebration as people are preferring to avoid synthetic Abir and save skin. Floriculturists can grab this opportunity as organic Abir of different hues can be made from floral extracts”, officials said stressing importance of the training programme.

 

In today’s valedictory programme, Sabhadhipati of Sepahijala Zila Parishad Supriya Das Datta, principal secretary of the Science, Technology and Environment department BK Sahu and other dignitaries were present in the programme.
