ProMASS News Bureau: Aug 18, 2016: While most of the RD blocks in Tripura are trying to implement development related projects, Ampi Nagar RD Block of Gomati District in the State is reportedly unable to do the same. Sources alleged that Ampi Nagar RD Block is facing acute man-power shortage and hence unable to carry forward development activities. In most of the cases project implementation is either stopped or running very slowly, alleged a villager. Inefficient management and slowness of project implementation have irked the villagers. It is learnt Ampi Nagar RD Block immediately requires Asst Accounts Officer, Accountants, Upper Division and lower division clerks as well as Computer Operators of proper maintenance of MGNREGA data and information are required to ensure smooth functioning of the Block.

Ampi Nagar was once a hotbed of tribal insurgency. However, after the State returned to normalcy after lots of bloodshed, development activities played crucial role in normalizing the situation and generate livelihood opportunities to militants who returned to normal life as well as common people. “MGNREGA came as a boon after decade long ethnic clashes ruined our lives. However, recently Ampi Nagar is unable to serve the rural and poor people properly and anger is brewing amongst villagers”, said Mangal Debbarma. Unless man-power shortage is urgently tackled, development of the Block area will be severely affected, allged Mangal Debbarma.
