Despondency among a section of CPM activists of Kumarghat Sub-division is palpable as the leaders are faltering repeatedly to come up with new vision and policy against the ruling BJP.
A melancholic feeling became visible after leaders had to sub-divisional level Conference of the Party at adjoining Kailashahar sub-division leaving its own turf at Kumarghat.
“It is frustrating that Kumarghat Sub-division level conference has been held, not at Kumarghat but at Kailashahar recently – this aptly demonstrate inabilities of local as well as State-level leaders and overall organizational failures of the Party in combating the BJP”, said one of the delegates.
According to the party sources, a total of 148 party activists from 12 Local Committees under Kumarghat attended the conference. Opposition leader cum CPM Politburo member Manik Sarkar and CPM MLA Tapan Chakraborty were the main speakers.
“Both Sarkar and Chakraborty, once again, slammed the ruling BJP on various issues. Apart from criticism, the leaders talked nothing about building and strengthening the organization. They even did not ponder over bringing fresh faces and giving the leaders of the party’s youth wing more responsibilities. Old guards seem to be reluctant to leave space for young leaders”, delegates fumed.
While CPM leaders are engaged in revamping organization by delivering lectures only, the scenario in BJP camp is quite different. Minister Bhagaban Das who is also a local BJP MLA is touring every corner of the sub-division to strengthen the base level organization.
According to several party workers, “BJP MLA and leaders are in field, standing by the side of the local people. While the mood in saffron camp is upbeat, uncertainties and despondency are rattling, at least a major section of Kumarghat CPM supporters. Our leaders are continuously failing to boost up our morale”.
Another crucial sentiment that is prevailing among the CPM supporters that leaders, apart from blaming the ruling party, are not coming out with any comprehensive plan and policy to rejuvenate and consolidate the grass root level organization. This, according to many may open flood gates of exodus from the party in near future, opined frustrated supporters of Kumarghat.
