The Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital is gaining the faith of the general public through successful surgeries one after another. After three successful heart-related surgeries in recent times, doctors of the ENT department of the Hospital conducted a critical surgery and saved the life of a Janajati minor girl.
The ENT doctors performed a successful operation upon an 11-year-old girl, Niju Debbarma on February 1. A resident of Salema area under Dhalai district, Niju Debbarma was having difficulty in breathing as a tamarind seed was stuck inside her lungs.
On January 30, she swallowed a tamarind seed and was unable to breathe. He was brought to Dhalai District Hospital in Kulai. As the condition of the girl deteriorated, doctors performed a Tracheostomy surgery in the Dhalai District hospital primarily saving her life. However, as the seed could not be extracted, the girl was referred to the GBP Hospital on January 31.
After some tests in the ENT department, it was found that her right lung was almost not functioning as the tamarind seed was stuck inside. The doctors decided to perform the complex surgery.
On February 1, a medical team under the leadership of the Head of the ENT department of GBP Hospital Dr. Biplab Nath performed a Bronchoscopy surgery.
The complex surgery went on for about two and a half hours. The medical team had Dr. Sankar Sarkar, Dr. Bhupendra Debbarma, Dr. Sutap Bhattacharjee, Dr. Shatabdi Das, Anaesthesiologist Dr. Bhaskar Majumdar and other staff.
The surgery was done completely free of cost. The present condition of the patient has been informed to be stable. This was informed in a press release issued by the Director of the Health Department.
