A group of youths held a demonstration in Agartala on Monday and alleged that they were deprived of jobs in Tripura State Rifles (TSR) even though they had cleared the examinations. They also demanded a probe into the allegation of malpractices in the TSR recruitment process.
“We have cleared all the tests for recruitment in TSR – physical test was strenuous, but we cleared the test and also passed the written exams. We, all of us belong to financially weak families – worked hard and studied well to pass the exams and we were successful. However, we were not recruited for the TSR job”, alleged the agitating youths.
According to the agitating youths, there were 2200 vacancies which would be filled through physical, written test etc.
“But we have noticed that all the vacancies have not been filled up. In view of this, we urge the state government to fill up all the vacancies in the TSR post and provide immediate employment to those who have been cleared the tests. We also urge the Government to ensure that successful candidates are not deprived of getting job in the TSR”, the youths said.
They also referred to alleged malpractices in the recruitment process and urged Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to intervene and conduct a proper investigation into the allegations.
The youths also warned the people who were involved in alleged malpractices.
Even as they reiterated faith on the State Government, the agitators also mentioned they may move Court seeking justice.
Later, Police reached the spot and arrested them.
