The ruling BJP-led Government in Tripura is not facing any threat due to the resignation of the two dissident BJP MLAs – Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha, said Tripura Pradesh BJP president Dr Manik Saha on Monday.
Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha submitted resignation to Speaker of the State Assembly Ratan Chakraborty today afternoon and flew to New Delhi.
Reacting to their resignation, Dr Manik Saha clearly said, “The resignation of Barman and Saha will not any pose any problem for us. If the Election Commission wants to go for by-poll, we are ready. We won the local body elections with a huge mandate”.
Dr Manik Saha said he had received letters from the two MLAs – Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Kumar Saha – mentioning that they are resigning from the party membership. Now action will be taken according to the party constitution.
“We were aware in advance that Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha would leave the party and the MLA post,” he pointed out.
Meantime, ICA Minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury along with party’s State spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee held a press meet and dispelled all sorts of apprehension regarding the Government as well as the organization in the wake of resignation of the two MLAs.
Addressing the media, Sushanta Chowdhury said that a conspiracy was hatched to overthrow the incumbent state BJP government and now, the conspiracy has become crystal clear. He said that the move by the dissident two MLAs was a conspiracy to give the CPM a space in the upcoming Assembly Polls.
Reacting to Barman’s claim that the ruling party will be reduced to a minority, Chowdhury underlined the resignation issue would not harm the incumbent Government – and there is no chance of any negative impact.
Reiterating Chowdhury’s statement, Nabendu Bhattacharjee also condemned the move and said Party is well placed, so there is no threat to the organization in coming days.
“People of the State are well acquainted with the roles of Barman and Saha during the last Lok Sabha and Urban Civic Body elections. The party offered them chances to rectify their positions, however, Barman and Saha squandered all the chances”, Bhattacharjee said.
