A pall of gloom descended as the State loses an eminent singer – Madhuchhanda Chakraborty.
She breathed her last at a private hospital on Thursday evening. She was 58 years old and was suffering from liver related diseases.
The cultural fraternity of the State, Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Secretary of Agartala press club Pranab Sarkar along other well wishers mourned the demise of the singer.
Her mortal remains were brought in Rabindra Satabarshiki bhawan on Friday where people including the dignitaries paid homage to Madhuchhanda Chakraborty.
Paying floral tribute to the departed singer, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of the eminent musician of the state, Madhuchanda Chakraborty. It is impossible to fill the void created in the music world of the state by his sudden departure”.
He said, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also condoled the untimely demise of the singer.
Chowdhury pointed out the eminent singer also guided many other younger artists like Niharika to shine at the national level.
“The State Government always stood behind the Cultural fraternity so that the State makes advancement in the cultural sphere. Her sudden death is a great loss and on behalf of the State government, I offer humble condolences. With a joint effort we have to try to fill void”, the ICA Minister said.
He further said, “Madhuchanda Didi’s melodious voice had an incomparable power enthralling people. My deepest condolences to his family and fans during this difficult time”.
