Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has joined BJP’s campaign in poll-bound Manipur on Friday.

Manipur is ready to go to polls in two phases on February 28 and March 5 next for the election to the 60-member Legislative Assembly.

Deb, who reached Manipur on Friday, met Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in Imphal apart from taking part in poll rallies in support of the BJP candidates.

The Chief Minister on his official Facebook handle commented, “the wave of the developmental is clearly visible in the state and people of Manipur are ready to give another tenure to the double engine government led by Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji and CM Shri N. Biren Singh Ji.”

The Tripura Chief Minister also mentioned that he was overwhelmed by the warm reception offered by BJP Manipur Karyakartas.

Accompanied by Tripura Assembly chief whip Kalyani Roy, Deb had an interaction with Smriti Irani, the Union Minister of Women and Child development in Manipur. Deb, according to his Facebook post, invited the Union Minister to visit Tripura.

The Chief Minister wrote, “On my visit to Imphal, glad to interact with Hon’ble Union Minister of Women and Child development, Smt. Smriti Irani Ji. Invited her to visit #Tripura and witness it’s serene beauty. Was accompanied by Chief Whip of Tripura assembly Smt. Kalyani Roy Ji.”

Deb also had interactions with BJP Manipur, State General Secretary, P. Premananda Meitei and State Secretary K. Inaocha Devi.

He started his poll campaign in Manipur in support of S. Premchandra Singh, BJP candidate for Saiton, Kumbi Mandal. He addressed the people gathered in the rally and deliberated them with all developmental works being done by the state government.

In a poll rally, Deb said, before the BJP was elected as the ruling party in the Manipur, there were only 6% of households in the states with tap water but under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Manipur government did a commendable Job and today 60 percent of the households have access to tap water.

After being re-elected as CM, the government led by N. Biren Singh would provide 2 free gas cylinders to Ujjawala beneficiaries and the girls from economically weaker sections would get an incentive of Rs. 25,000 and college girls would also get free scooters.

“Blockade and Insurgency were main hurdles of the development of Manipur when Shri N. Biren Singh Ji was elected as the CM of the state. 2,000Cr Rs was the annual expenditure to control insurgency. Double engine govt focused on eradicating these issues & ensured peace in the region,” he wrote on Facebook.

The money which was earlier being spent on controlling insurgency is now being used for the holistic development of the people of Manipur. It opened up ample opportunities for commerce, trade and employment, he added.
