Tripura Police recovered large quantity of narcotics, cash and a country made pistol from a house in West District on Sunday late night. Two persons were detained in this case.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Police officers Pia Madhuri Majumder and Anirban Das said, acting on a tip-off, Police raided the Rangutia area under Lefunga Police Station in West Tripura District on Sunday night. As part of the raid, a search operation was launched at house – Police recovered huge contraband items, cash as well as one 9mm Pistol.
“After the new SP of West District assumed charges, a Special District Task Force was formed and based on secret information provided by the Task Force, Police conducted the raid”, Pia Madhuri Majumder said.
In this connection, Police arrested two persons –Ratan Deb and Anup Deb, she said.
Talking about seized items by the Police, Majumder said, Apart from a country made 9mm pistol several narcotics and drug items like more than five thousand Yaba tablets, four hundred bottles of Phensidyle Cough Syrup, around Rs two lakh in cash and huge quantity of foreign liquor were recovered during the raid from the house.
Besides, a vehicle was also seized but the Debs do not own it, the Police officers said. However, no bullets were found.
Police are interrogating Ratan Deb and Anup Deb and would be produced before the court on Tuesday.
The operation started from 2.30 pm and continued up to 5 am today. A case will be filed against the arrested Ratan Deb and Anup Deb under NDPS section.
