Even as the poll bugle is yet to be sounded, like other Political parties, Tripura Pradesh Congress is also gearing up its different frontal wings – after repeated poll drubbing since the last Assembly Polls in 2018, Congress Party is on a sticky wicket and in a desperate situation to prove its relevance.
As part of gearing-up exercise, the Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders including the party’s State in-charge Dr Ajay Kumar held a marathon meeting on Monday keeping an eye on ensuing elections in Tripura.
Dr Ajay Kumar while interacting with the media, said the meeting aimed at chalking out party’s strategies and other related issues.
He urged the disgruntled political activists of other parties to join Congress and bolster the battle against the ruling BJP.
“We are appealing to all including the old-time Congress leader who had joined other parties to join us in this battle against the BJP”, Dr Kumar said.
The seven-member Co-ordination Committee of the Pradesh Congress formed by the AICC held discussions today. All the members including the president of the Committee Dr Ajay Kumar and Convener Gopal Roy pondered over the emerging political situation.
Later, speaking to the media, Roy said the coordination committee members have unanimously decided to put up a united show to dislodge the BJP government. He reiterated that Congress would form the State Government.
“People are fed up with the incumbent BJP government and disillusioned with the Leftists – in such a situation, Congress is the alternative which can free people from the misrule of the saffron party”, Gopal Roy commented.
Meantime, Roy left for Arunachal Pradesh today after the meeting for party programmes as the Pradesh Returning Officer (PRO) of Arunachal Pradesh.
Different wings of the Congress Party including the Pradesh Mahila Congress also held meetings.
