The School Education Department launched a three-day programme from Tuesday to observe International Women’s Day through different programmes.
The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day celebration is ‘Break the bias’.
The programme started today from the Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ School through a race. Additional Inspector General of Police Princi Rani inaugurated the race in presence of Director of the School Education Department Chandrani Chandran and other dignitaries.
As part of the programme, a seminar, drama, and cultural programme by women band of the State, Meghabalika will be held on Wednesday.
On the valedictory day on Thursday, a friendly cricket match, Yoga Aashan and cultural programmes will be staged.
On another event, Minister for Social Welfare Department Santana Chakma inaugurated a cycle rally in Agartala as part of the observance of International Women’s Day. Tripura Women Commission organized the rally in which a large number of women and girls turned up.
With the initiative of the Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), International Women’s Day was observed at Khumulwng today. As part of the observance, 106 ICDS workers of six different projects under the TTAADC were awarded for special contributions.
Deputy CEM Animesh Debbarma along with other dignitaries were present in today’s programme.
Besides, All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangstha (AIMSS) of the Tripura unit also observed International Women’s Day at South Badarghat in Agartala today.
The International Women’s Day was observed in Sonamura sub-division today. An NGO ‘Sonamura Nagar Samajik Sangstha held a rally in which several school children took part with placards. They also raised slogans hailing the day.
However, Political parties in Sonamura did not organize any programme to mark International Women’s Day.
