The Council of Ministers of Tripura on Friday decided to fill up 400 Panchayat Executive officers posts through TPSC and appoint 200 Special Educators after creating the posts under Education Department. The Council of Ministers also decided to set up a National Law University in the State.
ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury after the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, said the State cabinet gave its nod for the appointment of 400 Panchayat Executive officers in a phased manner.
“The Cabinet on December 21 last year created 1178 posts of Panchayat Executive Officers. The proposal was examined by the Finance department and on the basis of fund requirements etc the department allowed 400 posts to be filled up in phased manner. The government will soon initiate action to this end”, Chowdhury said and added these posts will be filled up through TPSC, the Minister said.
He also said 200 Special Educators would be appointed in the 100 specific schools under the CBSE which had been created under the Vidyajyoti scheme. There would be two such teachers in each school. The recruitment would be done through TRBT.
Chowdhury told the media that the state government would set up a National Law University in Agartala. At the beginning, the state government would provide a fund of Rs 50 crore to the University which was expected to become a self-sustained entity within five years—with all recurring and nonrecurring expenditure being borne by it.
The Chief Justice of Tripura High Court by virtue of his position would be the Chancellor of the proposed National Law University. State government would appoint the Vice Chancellor of the University at the advice of the Chief Justice.
“The controlling entity of the National Law University would be the 13-member Governing council headed by the Chancellor, the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court”, said Chowdhury.
He said that the other members would be two acting or retired judges of the Tripura High Court as nominated by the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Advocate General, Chairman of Bar Council of India or his nominee, Chairman of Bar Council of Tripura or his nominee, Chairman of UGC or his nominee, Vice-Chancellor of MBB University or his nominee, two distinguished Lawyers of the state, Principal Secretary or Secretary Law, Principal Secretary or Secretary Higher Education and a District Judge with wide knowledge in judicial matters and education.
