Around 11,500 persons were given jobs in the state since formation of the new government, ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury said on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, Chowdhury said, the new government provided jobs on regular pay to 4586 persons in various departments.

The figure included 2930 in Education, 112 in Agriculture, 54 in Animal Resource Development, 8 in cooperative, 4 in Election, 8 in Finance, 18 in Fisheries, 13 in Foods and Civil Supplies, 14 in Forest, 96 in General Administration, 1 in Governor’s secretariat, 363 in Health department, 225 in Home department, 50 in Industries and Commerce, 21 in Information and Cultural Affairs, 12 in Labour, 79 in Law, 6 in Planning and Coordination, 130 in PWD, 317 in Revenue, 70 in Rural Development, 2 in Science and Technology, 1 in Transport, 26 in Janajati Welfare, 8 in Minorities Welfare, 1 on OBC Welfare and 17 in SC Welfare departments, Chowdhury told the media.

The ICA minister said another 1300 TSR personnel and 1300 SPOs were recruited while 2150 contractual and 2158 outsourcing jobs were also provided. The minister also said that he would soon come up with comprehensive data regarding the jobs and employment given by the BJP-IPFT government.

He was giving counter to former Chief Minister and present Opposition Leader Manik Sarkar.

Chowdhury said, Sarkar was the man who made the state a ‘factory of unemployment’.

“They (Left government) used to give jobs to the persons close to the ministers or leaders. But our government is providing jobs in a transparent manner and that’s why many Left supporters are also getting jobs,” Chowdhury told the media. (Courtesy Tripura Times)
