Leader of opposition Manik Sarkar on Saturday dubbed the BJP-led coalition government as ‘anti-people’ and said that the people of all walks of life in the state are suffering owing to government’s ‘anti-people’ policies.

Sarkar was addressing a rally at Agartala organized by the Tripura Tapashili Jati Sammanoy Samity (TTJSS), a frontal wing of the CPI-M to press for their 16 points charter of demands.

Sarkar  fired verbal salvos at ruling BJP government on Saturday and reiterated unemployment is rising at an alarming rate in the state of Tripura as the government failed to meet the promises made in the vision document over providing jobs in the government sector.

Referring to the 33% reservation for women in government jobs announced by the BJP government in the recent past, Sarkar said, “What is the purpose of providing 33 per cent reservation to women when there is no job in the government sector? The BJP had promised 50,000 jobs for each year! Is that fulfilled or achieved?”

On the other hand, Sarkar felt the necessity of upholding democratic rights in Tripura and said, “In Tripura, democratic values and rights are being trampled leaving the people in distress. Not only the Scheduled Caste (SC) population, all sections of society be it dalit or minority are facing the brunt of anti-people policies.”

Sarkar called to intensify the Left’s movement against the ruling BJP government.

CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury also came down heavily on the BJP-IPFT government for befooling people with false promises in the vision document. He said, “The Biplab Kumar Deb government has taken away the rights of lakh of unemployed youths. Not a single promise of the vision document has been fulfilled by the present government.”
