Aunty, full guarantee – an attention grabbing call is frequently heard at the ongoing Universal Expo in Agartala. The sharp yet an assuring voice of octogenarian lady, Mata Kamal is pulling the crowd to her stall.
Every evening from 2 pm to 9pm, she is tirelessly talking with the people about her products and often making her hallmark attention drawing call. With her silver white hair, time-worn face and charming smile blended with her indomitable spirit continue to radiate an alluring positive vibe without any sign of resignation in the Expo.
Meantime, the Universal Expo started on March 25 will continue till April 10.
On behalf of the organizers, Raj Chowdhury said, “There are around 100 stalls in the Universal Expo in Agartala including five stalls put up by foreign country based traders. This year, traders from Turkey, Bangladesh, Thailand, Nepal and Afghanistan have come with their products”. He also expressed happiness at the daily footfalls and trading in the Expo and thanked the people for an overwhelming response.
Mata Kamal is popularly known as ‘Aunty’ and a well known face in the circuit of Universal Expo like events across the country for a long time. Her ‘Second World Ayurvedic’ stall has several Ayurvedic medicines for a healthy living, Vastu and Fengshui products including idols of Laughing Buddha, Ganesh, Sai Baba etc for peaceful living.
No matter whether people buy her products or not, she is always talking with the visitors with a pleasant smile and cracking jokes to keep the visitors and others around her in a good humor.
“Today everyone is counting money, weights, calories and steps – but we should start counting ‘blessings’ as the latter really matters”, she suggested a group of teens who bought a few finger rings.
She continued and said, “I enjoy mingling with so many different kinds of people and like to talk to them. So, I am mixing my passion with the profession and it’s an enriching and refreshing experience for me”.
Apart from business and trading, Universal Expo is providing a platform for an interaction between people of different States, countries ages, caste and ethnicity – this is an important factor as Tripura is aspiring to become a model State. Sharing ideas, experiences and empathy will create an ambience for growth, Mata Kamal opined.
To Mata Kamal, growth is not an inorganic and mechanical matter, but it needs a broad and open mindset to ignite the zeal to stride forward which Tripura is currently striving to achieve.
“I believe, with empathy people of Tripura will shine”, she concluded with her trademark-call – Aunty, full guarantee.
