Killing over land dispute: 7 arrested
Police arrested seven persons in connection with the killing of three persons at Daab Bari under the Kamalpur sub-division on May 5 last over land disputes. Among the seven arrested persons, three surrendered before Police while four others are undergoing treatment at the Dhalai District Hospital. The arrested persons are: Dilip Das, Prasenjit Das, Amal Das, Bikas Das, Dhirendra Das, Swagata Das and Ajay Das.
MoS Pratima Bhowmik along with MLA Parimal Debbarma and other BJP leaders went to Daab Bari on Friday and talked to the bereaved family members. They also extended financial help. Congress Party leaders visited the victims’ family members today.
Tripura: Jilted lover runs amok
A jilted lover, Idrish Ali of Kailashahar, along with an accomplice barged into the house of the girl whom he wanted to marry at Rajnagar Gram Panchayat under Kadamtala PS on Friday night. He and his accomplice held the mother of the girl at gunpoint and asked her whereabouts of the girl. After the mother denied sharing the location of her daughter, Idris Ali set the house ablaze. The mother along with her minor son managed to come out of her burning house but sustained injuries. Idris Ali and his accomplice remain absconding.
Teacher nabbed with heroin in Tripura
One teacher was arrested with drugs on Friday night. Police recovered 25 grams of heroin, worth more than Rs 3 lakh, from his possession. The arrested teacher hails from Balichhara under Churaibari. He is deputed at Kalachhara JB School under SSA. Acting on secret information, OC of Laljhuri Outpost Gurupada Debnath detained him. Initially, the arrested person kept his identity secret, however, later he claimed to be a teacher. Police verified his claimed and ascertained from the Kalachhara JB School that his claim was true.
